Public road cart

Regarding the public road cart rental business, which is popular with foreign tourists, Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, has revised the ordinance, and notification to the ward will be mandatory from the 1st of next month.

The revised ordinance requires public road cart rental operators to notify the ward and explain to the residents when opening a business, as well as requiring the ward to submit a pledge.

According to Shibuya Ward, there have been a number of complaints from residents living near the businesses about the "public road karts," including noise pollution, and there have also been other problems, such as dangerous driving, including people taking photos and playing around at intersections, and causing traffic jams.

I think that public road go-karts should be abolished because they cause traffic jams and are dangerous.

  1. There is a high possibility that foreigners do not understand Japanese traffic rules. It is necessary to take proper measures.

  2. That might be the kind of story that shows some businesses need limits for the public good. It's good to see the administration is taking residents' feedback into account.
